恵みの風
霊的成長を目指して
「この世と調子を合わせてはいけません。むしろ、心を新たにすることで、自分を変えていただきなさい。」（ローマ12:2）
先日、ある教会から、奉仕を依頼を受けました。青年の集まりで「霊的成長」をテーマに奉仕を依頼されたのですが、若い人たちが霊的成長を願うことに、今の時代にあってこんなに素晴らしい青年たちがいることに非常に感銘を受けました。しばらくの間、恵みの風は霊的成長をテーマにしたいと思います。
霊的成長を考える上で、冒頭のみことばが真っ先に思い浮かびました。霊的成長とは、私たちが救われてから始まる驚くべき恵みです。成長の源は命です。その源となる命は、神がキリストを通して与えてくださる永遠のいのちです。そして私たちの心が新たにされ、今の自分から新しい自分へと変えられていくことが霊的成長です。
心が新たにされるということは、「この世と調子を合わせてはいけません」と記されているように、今までこの世を基準としていたところから、キリストを基準として生きることを意味します。具体的には、イエス様を模範として、イエス様ならどのように考えられるか、どのように語られるか、どのように行動されるのかを考えていくことです。
私たちも、若いクリスチャンに倣って、イエス様によって罪が赦され、新しい命をいただき、キリストを基準として歩む者へと帰られました。神さまはご自身の大切な子どもの成長を願っておられます。ですから霊的成長に関心を持ち、願うことから始めませんか。個人の成長は、教会の成長に繋がります。
Aiming for Spiritual Growth
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)
Recently, I was invited by a church to serve at a youth gathering. The theme they requested was “Spiritual Growth.” I was deeply moved to see that in this day and age, there are such wonderful young people who sincerely desire to grow spiritually. For a while, I would like to dedicate “Winds of Grace” to this theme of spiritual growth.
When considering what it means to grow spiritually, the scripture above immediately comes to mind. Spiritual growth is an amazing grace that begins the moment we are saved.
The Source of Growth
The source of all growth is life. Specifically, it is the eternal life that God grants us through Jesus Christ. Spiritual growth occurs as our minds are renewed, transforming us from who we are now into a “new self.”
Shifting Our Standard
To have a “renewed mind” means—as the scripture says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world”—to stop living by the standards of this world and start living with Christ as our standard.
