アイデンティティにおける霊的成長を目指して④
「あなたがたは自分自身と群れ全体に気を配りなさい。神がご自分の血をもって買い取られた神の教会を牧させるために、聖霊はあなたがたを群れの監督にお立てになったのです。」 （使徒20:28）
私は若い頃に「神がご自分の血をもって買い取られた神の教会」というみことばに出会い、深い感動と大きな喜びに心が満たされた経験をしました。私は神さまのものとされていることに気づかされ、このみことばを読むたびに、神のものとされた感動と喜びが湧き上がってきます。
クリスチャンは、キリストの十字架の血という金額にできない代価が支払われて、神さまが私たちをご自分のものにされるために買い取られたのです。そして教会は、神のものとされた人たちが集まっているので、教会も神のものであると言えるのです。
私たちは、クリスチャンであっても自分の人生を自分中心で考えがちです。自分が幸せになるために、自分が満足するために、自分を喜ばせるために生きようとするのが、古い人間の性質なのです。しかし、ここには一時的な満足を得られても、本質的には、むなしさしかありません。
イエス様によって罪が赦された新しい人の生き方は、自分を喜ばせ、満足させるものではありません。神の栄光を現し、神に喜ばれることを、いつも選択肢として持つことです。そして神に喜ばれることを選ぶことができるように聖霊の助けを仰ぐことが、神のものとされた人の平安と喜びになるのです。

“Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.” (Acts 20:28, NIV)
Reflection
When I was young, I encountered the words, “the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.” I still remember how my heart was filled with profound emotion and overwhelming joy. It made me realize that I belong to God, and every time I read this scripture, that same deep gratitude and joy well up within me.
As Christians, we have been bought by God to be His very own, paid for with a price beyond measure—the blood of Christ on the cross. And because the church is a gathering of people who belong to God, we can truly say that the church itself belongs to Him.
Even as Christians, however, we tend to view our lives through a self-centered lens. Our old nature drives us to live for our own happiness, our own satisfaction, and our own pleasure. Yet, even if we find temporary fulfillment in that way of living, it ultimately leaves us with nothing but emptiness.
The lifestyle of a “new creation”—one whose sins have been forgiven through Jesus—is not about pleasing or satisfying oneself. Instead, it means always keeping the desire to reveal God’s glory and to please Him at the center of our choices. Relying on the help of the Holy Spirit to choose what pleases God is where those who belong to Him find true peace and joy.
