恵みの風
霊的成長を目指してー愛における成長ー
「また愛のうちに歩みなさい。キリストも私たちを愛して、私たちのために、ご自分を神へのささげ物、またいけにえとし、芳ばしい香りを献げてくださいました。」 （エペソ5:2）
愛における霊的成長を考える時に、それは私たちの主イエスが最良の模範を示してくださっています。冒頭のみことばでは「キリストも私たちを愛して、私たちのためにご自分を神へのささげ物、またいけにえとし」てくださったことが示されています。主は文字通り、命をかけて愛を示してくださいました。
私たちが愛において成長するというのは、私たちが愛に欠けた者であるという自覚が必要です。私たちの愛は独りよがりです。見返りがなければ不機嫌になり、愛が届かなければ「なぜ分からないのか？」と悲しさに浸ります。愛における成長とは、独りよがりではなく、相手に伝わるものでなければなりません。
愛において成長するために、まず私たちがキリストご自身の愛から学ぶことです。Ⅰコリント13章に愛の性質が記されています。このすべてを備えておられるのが主イエスです。あなたはいつでもイエス様の十字架を思う時に感動していますか？もし感動しないなら、愛を学美、愛を体験する必要があります。
兄弟姉妹の中で実践して学ぶことが大切です。教会に集まるのは、派遣された場所で、主の愛から学んだことを実践するためです。しかし、いきなりではなく、兄弟姉妹との交わりを通して愛を持って互いに交わりを持つことで、愛の質を高め、どうやったら愛が伝わるのかを学ぶことができるのです。
Aiming for Spiritual Growth—Growth in Love—
“And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (Ephesians 5:2)
When we think about spiritual growth in love, our Lord Jesus provides the greatest example for us. The opening scripture shows that “Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” The Lord literally demonstrated His love at the cost of His own life.
For us to grow in love, we must first recognize that we are lacking in love. Our love tends to be self-centered. If we do not receive anything in return, we become displeased, and if our love is not received well, we sink into sorrow, wondering, “Why don’t they understand?” Growth in love means moving away from self-centeredness and learning to love in a way that truly reaches the other person.
To grow in love, we must first learn from the love of Christ Himself. The characteristics of love are recorded in 1 Corinthians 13. It is our Lord Jesus who possesses all of these qualities. Are you always deeply moved when you think of Jesus’ cross? If you are not, you need to learn about love and experience it deeply.
It is important to practice and learn this among our brothers and sisters. We gather at church so that we can practice what we have learned from the Lord’s love out in the places where we are sent. However, rather than rushing into the world all at once, we can elevate the quality of our love and learn how to truly communicate it by fellowshiping with one another in love through our community of brothers and sisters.
