主に信頼することにおける霊的成長
「父がわたしを愛されたように、わたしもあなたがたを愛しました。わたしの愛の中にとどまりなさい。」 (ヨハネ15:9)
いつでもどんな時でも主への信頼を揺るがされることないのが、私たち信仰者の理想だと思います。しかし現実は、思い通
りにならない嵐が突然起こり、裏切りや不信感や心配や恐れという波風に煽られる中で、私たちの神さまへの信頼が揺らぐことがあります。
そんな私たちに対して、イエス様は「父がわたしを愛されたように、わたしもあなたがたを愛しました」とお語りになられました。イエス様のご生涯も決して安泰だったわけではありません。殺意を抱かれ、妬まれ、罠を仕掛けられ、いつも失脚を狙われる包囲網を張られていました。しかし、イエス様はそんな生涯を「父がわたしを愛された」と仰られています。
イエス様がそのご生涯で愛を感じられたのは、父なる神さまが絶大な信頼をお寄せになられた所にあります。いばらの道を歩み、十字架の死をたった一人で歩まれたのは、父なる神さまからの信任の愛を感じておられたからです。十字架の道は、誰にも託すことができず、イエス様しか担えない使命でした。これを任されたことに父の愛を感じておられたのです。
私たちの願い通りになることだけに神さまの愛を感じる信仰、生き方から脱していきましょう。人生の嵐も波風も、神さ
まがあなたへの信任の愛の現れなのです。「わたしの愛の中にとどまりなさい」と仰られるイエス様の愛をさらに深く理解
し、揺るがされない主への信頼を学ばせていただきましょう。
Spiritual Growth Through Trusting in the Lord
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.” (John 15:9)
As believers, our ideal is to possess an unwavering trust in the Lord at all times and in every circumstance. In reality, however, sudden and unexpected storms arise. When tossed by the rough winds and waves of betrayal, distrust, worry, and fear, our trust in God can begin to waver.
To us in these moments, Jesus spoke these words: “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.” Jesus’ own earthly life was by no means peaceful. He was constantly surrounded by hostile forces—faced with murderous intent, jealousy, traps, and persistent schemes to bring about His downfall. Yet, looking back on such a life, Jesus still declared, “The Father has loved me.”
The love Jesus felt throughout His life stemmed from the absolute trust that God the Father placed in Him. He was able to walk the path of thorns and endure the solitary death on the cross because He deeply felt the Father’s love—a love expressed through complete trust. The way of the cross was a mission that could not be entrusted to anyone else; it was a calling that only Jesus could fulfill. He recognized the Father’s love precisely in being entrusted with this mission.
Let us move away from a faith and a way of living that senses God’s love only when things go according to our own desires. The storms and rough waters of life are themselves manifestations of God’s trusting love for you. May we come to understand more deeply the love of Jesus, who invites us to “remain in my love,” and grow in an unshakable trust in the Lord.
