The Wind of Grace

Spiritual Growth as a Giving Church

“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” (Acts 20:35)

Christian churches are broadly divided into two categories: giving churches and passive churches. Churches that joyfully give grow both qualitatively and quantitatively. On the other hand, passive churches struggle to grow. This is because experiencing the true blessing of giving is the fruit of spiritual growth, borne from living in the love of the Lord Jesus.

Many people recognize that giving is a wonderful thing. However, when it is required of them personally, they hesitate or feel reluctant to give. Even among Christians, some still hold onto a hesitant heart, staying in a place where they feel it is better to receive than to give.

In our church as well, we are being asked whether we are living in a love that gives. Deep down, do you find yourself wanting to be doted on within the church? Do you seek to entertain, support others through prayer, encourage those around you, or be a source of strength to someone? Are you actively seeking to participate in the fellowship of God’s family?

To truly experience the joy of giving, we must first continue living in a relationship with the One who gave even His life for us. Connected to Him, we are filled and strengthened by His overflowing love and blessings. By stepping into the fellowship of God’s family and sharing the love and blessings we have received from Him, we grow.
