アモス書 ４章 1～13節
“このことばを聞け。サマリアの山にいるバシャンの雌牛どもよ。おまえたちは弱い者を虐げ、貧しい者を迫害し、自分の主人に「何か持って来て、飲ませよ」と言っている。
神である主は、ご自分の聖にかけて誓われる。「見よ、その時代がおまえたちに来る。おまえたちは釣り針にかけて引き上げられる。最後の一人までが、銛で突かれる。
おまえたちは、城壁の破れ口からそれぞれまっすぐに出て行き、ハルモンに放り出される。──主のことば。
ベテルに行って背け。ギルガルに行って、ますます背け。朝ごとにあなたがたのいけにえを献げよ。三日ごとに十分の一を献げるがよい。
感謝のささげ物として、種入りのパンを焼き、進んで献げるものを布告し、ふれ知らせるがよい。イスラエルの子らよ、あなたがたはそうすることを好んでいる。──神である主のことば。
わたしは、あなたがたのすべての町で、あなたがたの歯を汚さず、すべての場所で、パンを欠乏させた。それでも、あなたがたはわたしのもとに帰って来なかった。──主のことば──
わたしはまた、刈り入れまでなお三か月あるのに、あなたがたに雨をとどめた。ある町には雨を降らせ、ほかの町には雨を降らせなかった。ある畑には雨が降ったが、雨の降らなかった畑は乾ききった。
二、三の町は水を飲むために、よろめきながら一つの町に行った。しかし、満ち足りることはなかった。それでも、あなたがたはわたしのもとに帰って来なかった──主のことば。
わたしは立ち枯れと黒穂病で、あなたがたを打った。あなたがたの果樹園とぶどう畑、いちじくの木とオリーブの木が増えても、噛みいなごが食い荒らした。それでも、あなたがたはわたしのもとに帰って来なかった。──主のことば──
わたしは、エジプトにしたように、疫病をあなたがたに送った。剣であなたがたの若者を殺し、あなたがたの馬を奪い去った。あなたがたの陣営に悪臭を上らせ、あなたがたの鼻をつくようにした。それでも、あなたがたはわたしのもとに帰って来なかった。──主のことば──
わたしは、あなたがたをくつがえした。神がソドムとゴモラをくつがえしたように。あなたがたは、炎の中から取り出された燃えさしのようになった。それでも、あなたがたはわたしのもとに帰って来なかった。──主のことば。
それゆえイスラエルよ、わたしはあなたにこのようにする。わたしがあなたにこうするから、イスラエルよ、あなたの神に会う備えをせよ。」
見よ、山々を形造り、風を創造した方。その御思いが何であるかを人間に告げる方。暁と暗闇を造り、地の高き所を歩まれる方。その名は万軍の神、主。”

Israel Has Not Returned to God
1Hear this word, you cows of Bashan on Mount Samaria,
you women who oppress the poor and crush the needy
and say to your husbands, “Bring us some drinks!”
2The Sovereign Lord has sworn by his holiness:
“The time will surely come
when you will be taken away with hooks,
the last of you with fishhooks.
3You will each go straight out
through breaches in the wall,
and you will be cast out toward Harmon,”
declares the Lord.
4“Go to Bethel and sin;
go to Gilgal and sin yet more.
Bring your sacrifices every morning,
your tithes every three years.
5Burn leavened bread as a thank offering
and brag about your freewill offerings—
boast about them, you Israelites,
for this is what you love to do,”
declares the Sovereign Lord.
6“I gave you empty stomachs in every city
and lack of bread in every town,
yet you have not returned to me,”
declares the Lord.
7“I also withheld rain from you
when the harvest was still three months away.
I sent rain on one town,
but withheld it from another.
One field had rain;
another had none and dried up.
8People staggered from town to town for water
but did not get enough to drink,
yet you have not returned to me,”
declares the Lord.
9“Many times I struck your gardens and vineyards,
destroying them with blight and mildew.
Locusts devoured your fig and olive trees,
yet you have not returned to me,”
declares the Lord.
10“I sent plagues among you
as I did to Egypt.
I killed your young men with the sword,
along with your captured horses.
I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camps,
yet you have not returned to me,”
declares the Lord.
11“I overthrew some of you
as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
You were like a burning stick snatched from the fire,
yet you have not returned to me,”
declares the Lord.
12“Therefore this is what I will do to you, Israel,
and because I will do this to you, Israel,
prepare to meet your God.”
13He who forms the mountains,
who creates the wind,
and who reveals his thoughts to mankind,
who turns dawn to darkness,
and treads on the heights of the earth—
the Lord God Almighty is his name.
