霊的成長を目指してー成長のために必要な要素②ー
「私が植えて、アポロが水を注ぎました。しかし、成長させたのは神です。」 （Ⅰコリント3:6）
私たちが霊的に成長を目指していくにあたり、大切な要素として、前回は、心がみことばによって耕されて成長するということを分かち合いました。今回は、成長は神によるものであるということです。この2つの要素が揃っていなければ、自力で成長することにすり替わってしまいます。
この成長の根源は、他でもなく、神さまご自身にあります。神さまが私たちを成長させてくださるお方です。神さまが私たちを成長させてくださるには、あらゆる方法や機会を用いられて成長させてくださいます。そのために私たちが、神さまが私を成長させてくださるという点に関心を持つ必要があります。
成長のためには、成長することを学ぶ必要があります。そしてこれは謙遜でいなければ学ぶことができません。そして主に対して心を開き、主が成長させてくださることを信じて、信頼し続けていなければなりません。成長のためにはこのような決断が必要なのです。
命があるものは、必要な養分を得るから成長します。それは神さまがそのようにお造りくださったからです。私たちクリスチャンにも、永遠のいのちが与えられました。この命によって私たちは地上の生涯においても、みことばから、御霊の働きから、愛や奉仕、鍛錬によって成長させていただけるのです。
私たちは知らず知らずのうちに、自分の殻に閉じこもりがちです。この殻を破る時に、祝福に満ちた成長があるのです
Aiming for Spiritual Growth: Essential Elements for Growth (Part 2)
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.” (1 Corinthians 3:6)
In our last reflection on aiming for spiritual growth, we shared how our hearts are cultivated by the Word of God in order to grow. This time, our focus is that growth comes from God. Unless these two elements are both present, we will mistakenly fall into the trap of trying to grow by our own strength.
The very root of this growth lies nowhere else but in God Himself. He is the one who makes us grow. To do this, God utilizes all kinds of methods and opportunities. Therefore, it is essential for us to direct our hearts and attention to the truth that God is the one growing us.
For growth to happen, we must learn how to grow—and we cannot learn this without humility. We must keep our hearts open to the Lord, believing and continuing to trust that He will bring about that growth. Such a decision and commitment are necessary for us to grow.
Living things grow because they receive the necessary nutrients; that is exactly how God created them. As Christians, we too have been given eternal life. Through this life, even during our earthly journey, we are enabled to grow through the Word, the work of the Holy Spirit, love, service, and spiritual discipline.
Without realizing it, we often tend to shut ourselves away in our own shells. Yet, it is when we break through these shells that we find a growth filled with blessings.
