“何をもって、私は主の前に進み行き、いと高き神の前にひれ伏そうか。全焼のささげ物、一歳の子牛をもって御前に進み行くべきだろうか。
主は幾千の雄羊、幾万の油を喜ばれるだろうか。私の背きのために、私の長子を、私のたましいの罪のために、胎の実を献げるべきだろうか。
主はあなたに告げられた。人よ、何が良いことなのか、主があなたに何を求めておられるのかを。それは、ただ公正を行い、誠実を愛し、へりくだって、あなたの神とともに歩むことではないか。”

What Does the Lord Require?
6 “With what shall I come before the Lord,
and bow myself before God on high?
Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,
with calves a year old?
7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams,
with ten thousands of rivers of oil?
Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression,
the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
8He has told you, O man, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?
